Sage was a masters student in the Bern School of Environmental Science and Management at UCSB during 2021-2023. She is now a PhD student in Urban Planning and Public Policy at the University of California Irvine.

Sage's research interests are situated at the intersection of energy justice, decarbonization, and public participation. With CETLab, she worked on identifying quantitative metrics to evaluate energy equity, and she is currently conducting a qualitative case study on perceptions of energy transitions in fossil fuel-dependent communities. In her PhD studies, Sage plans to use collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches to examine the equity implications of low-carbon energy transition initiatives. Sage received her bachelor's degree from the Environmental Studies program and master's degree from the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at UC Santa Barbara.
