Les Armstrong

Undergraduate Student

Bio

In his late teenage years, Les became acutely aware of the monumental importance of curving green house gas emissions to avoid the catastrophic impacts of human made climate change. He moved to California from Argentina to pursue an education in science related to renewable energies. He attended Santa Monica College for two years, and then transferred to UC Santa Barbara. Les joined CETLab to work under the GRIDPath initiative. Specifically, he developed scripts to download open-source weather data sets, adjust their resolution, and then utilize those data to estimate hourly energy generation outputs.

Les completed his B.S. in physics in June of 2020. He is working as a consultant at Khepra, a biofuel start up and also as an intern engineer at FLIR in Goleta while continuing his work for CETLab in his spare time. He is looking forward to graduate school to further hone his skills in the clean energy field.
